Experience

Motherhood.  That should be enough experience to qualify someone for any job.

For me, as for many women, becoming a mother changed the course of my life.

After the birth of my first child, I took a break from social work and did some freelancing for a small community paper in rural Virginia, The Fluvanna Review. The Review’s wonderful editor, Carlos Santos, gave me the confidence to see myself as a writer.

I was able to use this experience as a launching board for more freelance work, which now includes The Guardian, The Huffington Post, Living Lutheran Magazine, UVA Today, Charlottesville Family Magazine, Great Moments in Parenting, and Mother’s Always Write.
